Frame

She rose from her chair and crossed the room to the dresser. Amongst the family photographs one particular frame called out to her. Tentatively she reached out and with tears welling up lifted the picture to her eyes. Staring lovingly she stoked the silver metal surrounding the image. Only last week had she spoken to him, only last week had they laughed and joked, their closeness an unbreakable bond, today that was all gone, over in the blink of an eye. That one telephone call had shattered her world, the words still ringing in her ears “your son is dead”.

Candy

Calmly, she entered the dimly lit room, her eyes darting ubiquitously, surveying the scene. Her friend had told her about this night and she was more than ready to give it a try. Three rows of tables, each highlighted with a single candle, on each table a place card, one would bear her name. Excitement began to rise within her, she flushed and felt that familiar shudder starting in the pit of her stomach. Around the room stood groups of men, she felt like a little kid in a candy store. The Black Widow had never been speed dating before.

The Knife

Slowly she looked down at her bloody hand, the blade of the knife still dripping. Dark red droplets slowly forming a pool on the floor at her feet. Beside her lay the still, lifeless body of a young man, dark, wet circles forming on his white shirt, still dressed in his wedding suit. Splatters of his blood making patterns on her white lacy dress. Across the room the TV was still playing, bright images reaching out to her through the silent gloom. A tray containing champagne and glasses still on the table. How did her wedding day end like this?

My daughters Lucy and Lisa swam in the DMASA Gala today. Lucy got 6th place in the IM and 6th place in Freestyle. Her twin sister Lisa also swam and got 12th place in IM and 13th in Freestyle. Well done girls!!

It was a very long day!

Saturday October 19th

Today I went to meet Fiona at Meadowhall - Lisa came with me.

We had lunch, then did a little shopping. Looked in the Disney shop and bought a few things that I need to send off with a birthday present and card.

Have done a fair bit of posing at Deppography today - my aim is to top 1000 posts before the weekend is over. Hope to achieve.

Spoke to Michele - she is going to a Halloween party when RJ has gone to work but will be back later tonight.

Gonna be a busy day with the swimming gala tomorrow - it usually turns into a looonnnggg day!

Autumn

Leaves have started falling
New colours, shades of brown
Making their lazy way down to the ground
Listen carefully, you can hear the sound
A rustle, a flutter

Thick carpets of leaves
Red, orange and brown
Trees baring their souls to the sky
Branches still reaching up so high
To the heavens

Rich golden sunsets
Red skies a delight
A perfect time and place to stand
And watch while shadows cast across the land
So peaceful

The nearness of winter
Glistening and white
A chill comes into the air
Snow is falling, people everywhere stop and stare
Autumn has passed

Just got back from having my flu vaccine today. Hopefully that will protect me for the coming season now.

My day off today - don't know what I am doing yet but we'll see how the day goes.

Trying to configure my blog - never have done one of these before.
